Cancer Sufferer Helping to Raise Money at Local Mecca Bingo Hall

The mum-of-two, Sue Yusuf is going to be participating in a game of bingo with 5 other participating bingo players in the hope of raising money for charity. Each participating player will be reading out 15 bingo numbers each on the podium at Mecca Bingo which is located in South Shields. The winner will be the participant with the most amount of money they collect via separate collection pots.

Sue, who lives in South Shields is a cancer sufferer herself and is currently undergoing treatment for breast cancer. Sue, who is in her 40s said: “It promises to be a wonderful, fun-filled event”. She has played many games of bingo in the very same Mecca building and she wanted to put something together be a little different to try and raise money for charity.

Sue currently works as a customer manager with Royal Sun Alliance Insurance in Sunderland. She heard the devastating news that she had cancer back in January 2010 last year. Since then she has had three operations and has undergone several radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatments. She feels like she maybe clear of the illness but she is still waiting on Doctors to give her the good news.

Sue Yusuf is calling on the help of the 45 year old, National Bingo Caller of the Year, Blake Robson to offer friendly tips and advice. Blake has been a bingo caller for the Dean Road bingo hall for almost 20 years, so he knows what he is talking about when it comes to bingo.

Sue and Blake are hoping to raise a few hundred pounds for the 3 charities: St Clare’s Hospice in Jarrow, Marie Curie, and the chemotherapy unit at South Tyneside District Hospital. There are looking for volunteers to participate.

To take part in the event just head on down to the Mecca Bingo Hall which is located in South Shields tonight, Monday 31st between 7.30pm and 8pm. Just remember, the more people that turn up to play, the more money that is accumulated for the charities. After the charity bingo event a Halloween Monsters’ Ball will be held. Entries cost just £3.
