Yeah, yeah, we know! The following Costa Bingo advert first appeared on our TV sets in 2010 and now it is the start of 2012, but we have seen it on TV quite recently so the advert must have been a success for them to keep with the same marketing campaign rather than starting a new one.
The huge sun-like character in the advert is called Sunny (a little ironic) and is the Costa Bingo’s mascot (looks like Sun Bingo were slow of thinking of the mascot first). The character has come a long way in design since Costa’s first advert and he has improved loads.
In the advert, Sunny has managed to find a sledge hammer and he is going on the rampage freeing all the trapped bingo balls. You can see him smashing open a prison to release all the trapped bingo balls that are yelling, “free bingo”. Once the bingo balls are free they take a stroll to the seaside to celebrate their freedom. It seems Sunny does not get a thank you, but he is not in it for the gratitude; just knowing he has done a good deed is good enough for him.
We want to know who is going around and trapping all the bingo balls. It would be great to know the adverts have a back-story and it would have been even better if Costa Bingo had made a sequel so we could know the entire story. Our guess is that there is no back-story.
The whole motto behind this old Costa Bingo advert campaign was: “play for free, win real cash” and to this day is what Costa Bingo is about and is what makes them unique from other online bingo sites.
