A bingo TV advert about Pink Ribbon Bingo, a bingo site that donates to Breakthrough Breast Cancer is always going to get the thumbs up from us. It could be the most annoying, tackiest and darn right abominable advert to grace the UK’s TV screen and we would give it our approval.
As soon as charity is mentioned we always seem to give things a little more thought and take a second glance at stuff we may otherwise have not gave a second thought to – and darn right! Most of us wish we could give to charity but we cannot afford to or we simply think we could use the money for our own use. The saying, “charity starts at home” applies. Well, as Kate Thornton puts it, bingo is a guilty pleasure, but knowing 15p of every pound you lose goes to charity, makes playing bingo great. Now when you are on a losing streak you can still smile to yourself knowing you are giving to Breakthrough Breast Cancer.
The Pink Ribbon Bingo advert has no animated computer graphics, no voiceover, mentions no bonuses/promotions and does not even show any signs of bingo balls and you know what…the advert works perfectly. Kate Thornton sitting down while telling you why you should play Ribbon Bingo without overselling the site does its job nicely. Future bingo adverts should take a leaf from Ribbon Bingo and address the UK public as if they we real people.
