It is officially 2012 and Paddy Power Bingo has brought out their first TV advert of the year. This quite fun and insulting bingo advert works well.
The advert starts off with a woman who is on a date and by the looks of it, it isn't going so well. The guy in the video is not coming out with the best chat up lines, "haven't been on a date with an older woman for a while" and "erm…you’re the best looking woman in the restaurant tonight... Give or take." First dates do not always go as planned and with the one-liners the man is coming out with it looks like he will be seeing a lot of first dates and no second ones.
It looks like the woman in the advert had second thoughts about the date as soon as she sat down as she had the Paddy Power Bingo hotline ready on her phone. Then again, with the dodge moustache that the man had we would have probable got the “fake call” ready.
The comedy of the advert reaches a height at the end of the video when the woman phones the Paddy Power Bingo hotline which gets her out of the first date. The words: dad, prison, gang and tattoos work well in any sentence to make someone not contact you, regardless of what order the words appear.
We saw no over used pink, no obviousness that the advert was aimed at women and it wasn’t too cheesy. All in all a perfect mix for a bingo advert. Congratulations Paddy Power.
