Paddy Power Bingo Advert £20 Free

The advert starts with a woman coming home (which looks like the mum of the other woman in the advert) and it dying for a cuppa. She pulls a laptop from her bag and starts playing Paddy Power Bingo. The woman admits the rooms get full, but with more people means more money up for grabs. The advert ends when she converts the other woman into a new bingo player.

We cannot quite put our finger on it, but the main woman in the video annoys us slightly. If you notice her bag seems huge, she pulls the laptop for it and it still looks full. If you also notice, the laptop was already turned on and she was logged into her Paddy Power account before she even got the laptop out of her bag, the badge at the beginning saying “I love Paddy Power Bingo” is a little over the top too.

The advert not only stereotypes that only women play bingo but it stereotypes that women stay at home and do the housework. This was probably not the intention of Paddy Power but it does seem like rookie mistakes. Bingo adverts need to be memorable, if you cannot remember a bingo advert then you won’t disuse it with friends and the advert wont come to mind when thinking of an online bingo site to join.

Although the Paddy Power TV advert gets the message across and mentions Paddy’s new sign up bonus, they forgot to mention you need to deposit £5 to receive the free £20 and it looks like you won’t remember the advert a few years down the line.
